Noticed the rim sprocket on my 880 was past it today. It had taken the bottom off all the drive links,as they do when they're worn. It's the original rim and i just thought it didn't last very long,is that due to the size of the saw and the work it's doing?Anybody else had the same thing?:confused1:

Supposedly, you need to replace your rim sprocket once for every two complete chains. Alternatively, replace once you notice any significant indentation in the sprocket.

They are very cheap (£6) though.

They do seem to have to work harder on an 880 but I change the sprocket every 2 chains. The sprocket is a normal wear part on the chainsaw like the bar and chain and should be replaced regularly on all chainsaws...

I started getting into replacing mine recently :blushing: but a worn sprocket = damage drive links on a new chain = damage a new bar = a lot of hassal for not replacing something that costs £6 !
