Hello all, just after a bit of advice. ive been in the land base sector since i was 16, left school went to college done first dip countyside/forestry and nd countryside managent, then worked for a few years doing verious countryside jobs... wont bore you with details...

After my last job doing a lot of ground work (felling manly), decided i really wanted to be a climber, so i perchased some climbing kit and pritty much learned the basic climbing teqniques my self and started doing some basic jobs for friends and family to build up some experience climbing with the saw. i decided to enrole on the 10week course at merrist wood to give me the qualifications to persue a long lasting future for my self in arb.

What i'am getting at really, is what is the next step for me to do acedemicly, because i really love the sceince side of arb. i work as a sub contractor for a couple of ferms plus doing some of my own work, so i cant dedicate my self to a full-time course. i want a acedemic type quilification in arb because i know i cant climb forever ( i hate the thourt of that but its true). can any of you hold hands tell me what is the best course for me to do in my situation? (rfs, isa,aa tec).

Sorry for the long post and thanks for reading:001_smile:

Hi M8,

I,m just sat doing my home work on a level 3 advanced arb course at kingswood training in Kent and I think that you should maybe give it the once over.

For more info have a look at Kingswood Training 09 - Home | Kingswood Training 09 or drop Richard Olley an email at [email protected].

Hope this helps and all the best.

Dave

Hi there, just had a quick look at this website and the combined NPTC units offered are all at level 2, according to the NPTC website, and not level 3 (I think the LOLER 'thorough examination' course is the only level 3 one...which is not included in the combined course.)

I think 'Western' is more looking for an acedemic course so I'd follow 'Hamadryads' lead to the FdSc Arb or Tech Cert Arb...or PD Arb.

Cheers..

Paul
