Give him as much wood as he wants, it's worth bugger all. Same with the chip.. Even a small tree surgery business soon ends up with tons of it.

 

There's money to be made in firewood. I always wait till I've got 5 or 6 loads on order then 2 of us will do them all in a day, at £90 a load that's reasonable money - and you're keeping your yard clear, got to get rid of it all somehow might aswell sell it!

Something i would recommend is to "pay rent" dont ever "do favours" etc to pay for you're yard...it never works in your favour and you always get called on when u dont need it and it can potentially lose you jobs and money.

 

Personally I would never pay rent, I think you should always try to buy. Even if you can't afford to buy a yard/field/woods out-right you should find out how much the rent you would be paying would allow you to borrow.

pay rent on the land and give firewood for the house , the rent becomes a business expense, get it on paper though.
