I don’t like them.   They have been used on snowboard boots for over 25 years.  
 

They used to break in those.  Great backup and guarantee from Boa but useless if you are at the top of a mountain and you need to get down.

 

I can’t see how they would last in a tree climbing environment.

Over the past six or seven years I switched to boas with all my shoes, I will never go back. 

It's just priceless not to deal with strings on muddy job sites with the stumpy, or opening the shoes one handed while balancing the groceries in the other when coming home. 

After maybe 2 years of 70-80% daily use, the wires tend to break but the warranty service by boa is fabulous and taking 30 minutes to replace them is still worth it.
