Hi,

What would the rough day rate of a small scale forestry job be?

Cutting by chainsaw, extraction by winch and small tractor with log trailer.

I've been offered thinning work of sites that are only 1ha.

Based in ireland, but I'm guessing the UK would be similar rates.

Thanks,

G

One site would be oak and Scots pine mix, so mainly taking out pine.

Other would be hardwood.

Both wouldn't be moving too far, across a field, so 500m ish.

I hear that the day rate for a sawman here in Ireland can range from 250-350 per day, fuel etc at your own expense. Hard to see any profit in these kind of jobs for sawman or owner.
