It originally came to me without spark, I had a good coil and replaced that, it now has a great spark, I had a generic good quality carb kit for the HL series and installed that after a thorough clean and inspection, I got it running but it revs uncontrollably, suggesting a leak somewhere, as these saws rev pretty low compared to more modern saws I need to pressure test for leaks, etc. looking at previous sales of this particular model they appear to be quite rare and fetch in some cases high prices, I don't want to sell it at all, but I would like to restore it to a working and usable condition.

Looks tidy enough, the spark plug cover is always missing,  yours there?

no, I'm not 100% familiar with this model, I didn't realise it was absent until you pointed it out. the muffler has been badly abused too, I'm going to attempt to salvage that, but at the moment it's wearing a stihl 090 muffler modded to fit my 2100 and 2101,s

amazon have balls up my delivery of the mityvac and now I have to wait for that to be resolved before I can continue.:mad1:

The machine has crankcase induction, they are quite prone to leakage between the crankcase and the crank bob weight, I only ever worked on a few, they do not rev very high, are you intending to actually use this saw seriously?

Has happened to me many times with Amazon, once they mess up, you get the pleasure of waiting a week before they do anything.

If its a Prime item, since returns are easy, no questions, I simply order another and keep which ever arrives first, and the slower delivery goes straight back.

In this case they have failed to deliver to my address, I live in a large woodland location, in the past parcels from some couriers have been left in farm gateways, hedges, etc as I have no nearby neighbors,  often some distance from the cottage, the local farmer has found them in the past and called to say they are there, I placed a polite notice asking they deliver to the house address on the parcel, it seemed a simple enough request, however I received a notification from amazon saying it had been delivered, and a picture of a parcel literally inches away from the sign, this is 9'00 in the evening, so I go to the sign and there's nothing there,

I notified them and they wont do anything until tomorrow.

the gateway is used by many people as there's a farm camp about a mile or so away and it's renowned for trouble to the extent people have moved away to avoid it, theft, they pissandshit everywhere, theft increases 5 fold when they are there as does shoplifting in the nearest town, and fuel theft, you name it it happens there, even prostitution and money laundering. interpol raided the place and carted of two absconders from europe who had murdered someone and came here on bogus papers, one of them then tried to stab a member of staff.

"move to the countryside they said, it's nice and peaceful here"

Aye right!

Yes about 6000rpm according to Mike Acres collectors corner,I had hoped to use occasionally on a few easy home jobs, mainly because I like using the old stuff, it's what I had when I started.

I have over 50 others to choose from so it wont get any  serious abuse.

the crank seals are not perished or damaged, but I think maybe a little hard from lack of use, I think I will have to remove them and find a suitable replacement or it will become an ornament, I'm not that keen on decorations.

Update on amazon saga,, they have refunded my payment, so I now have ordered another mityvac elsewhere, and tonight at app 9.30 yet another parcel dumped in a hedge, this time the wife got to it before anyone else walked off with it, two hours on the phone to amazon customer services in an attempt to resolve the ongoing non delivery issues.

lots of assurances it will cease,, we shall see.

as for the saw, got the carb sorted, if a test shows seals to be toast, I'll pull them and try the local bearing / seal supplier.

in the meantime rebuilt 2 041av stihls and added them to the collection.
