Im a bit new and may be being a div! I'm sure there is a thread about this somewhere but i cant seem to find it..

...So I know you guys are all mainly professionals and dont fancy climbing on the weekend when you have been at it all week.

But.. I am really interested in finding some other people to climb with besides mates who i have to guide and help..

Is there anyone in the west london/bucks/berkshire/surrey area who rec climbs?

Know any monster trees in the area??

Cheers :)

I do a bit of rec climbing. West London is limited, plenty of nice trees but all in prominant places like parks or verges that will attract a lot of attention and you'll be asked to stop in no time. Where do you go currently? Engelfield estate near reading is huge and has loads of big oaks.

Im a bit cheeky and love getting up prominent trees. Just not at busy times..

I currently do a lot of climbing in the many woods and commons heading north out of Reading. Did one very stealth climb of a huge giant sequoia on my university campus.. dont think they would be too happy if they knew about it! This Engelfield estate sounds good.. I will have to look into it. Cheers Richy

Is that Reading uni you are at? I was told they are one of the biggest landowners in berks. They must have a good selection of fun trees.

Yes there are some beasts on the main campus! The Sequoia was previously my tallest tree ever until I made the trip down to the one in the New Forest. Measured it roughly with my throwline at about 50m :o Was very fun. Nearly needed the spare pants.
