Woodland Valuation

Recommended Posts

I understand the tax breaks for woodland but you need to own the timber and in this case they have bought the land but the timber belongs to the local authority. As you say it might be a paintball type activity but surely you would require planning permission for that. With a major horse bridalway going through the site this type of activity must surely be refused.

This harvest will belong to the council, but after that who knows ? Long-term it could work, especially with the rates the prices are going up. I read somewhere that power companies are buying up woodland, but I think this one is a bit small for them to be bothered with.

So someone has bought a woodland where someone else is going to front up the cost of managing for the forseeable future?

Sounds sensible to me!

When you take into account asset value, tax benefits, environmental payments with no management costs. It does add up.
