In the shed I have a drawer in a filing cabinet with "Question Mark" chains and various old files things like that, and for out and about I have cut-off Aspen containers in a big plastic crate, one per chain type of good-to-go and easily-salvaged, and another of mixed buggered chains - rocks, nails, digger teeth (whoops) etc. - that I might get around to fixing one day.

Rotatech sell these little zip lock pouches for keeping chains in. They're marked with the chain size, and you can then store 10-15 chains in an old paint bucket.

Unfortunately, the pouches are quite expensive. But you do get a free chain inside each one

Yes those pouches are good but you still need somewhere to put them.

Halfords were selling a 3 draw metal tool chest a few months back for 25 quid, I got a couple. Ideal for chains, I thought. I then aquired mire lathe tools that needed a home so they are full now!
