Sick fig tree?

I bought a small ficus carica in a big pot last month and it looked healthy enough when it was delivered but after only a couple of weeks some of the leaves started shedding and every day it looks bit sicker. Could it have some disease or is it just the rainy summer which is causing it to shed early? I've put it in the sunniest part of the garden. I attach some pix and would be grateful for any thoughts:
