Cleaning gear - UK to Australia

Recommended Posts

Heading out to Melbourne to work for Mcleod end of September and looking for advice on how to get my gear through customs.

Planning on taking my full climbing set up: talon spikes, sequioa harness, poison ivy rope, zigzag, hitch climber, rope wrench, various carabiners etc as well as my helmet.

Planning on replacing my lanyard and boots just before I go and picking up a pair of cloggers upon arrival.

Any and all advice welcome. Thanks guys n gyals.

No first hand experience, but I've heard it's very strict. Have you considered selling everything and buying new on arrival?  Don't know if you've had cloggers previously, but I think clogger zero are great.

I flew into perth airport in January and had my harness & chainsaw trousers in my hold luggage.  They inspected my bags and weren't interested - mostly confused.  If you give it all a good clean you should be fine.  If you declare everything on arrival they might not even check you
