Salary 28000-38000 dependent on skills and experience

Core Hours: 8-430 Mon-Fri

 

Description

Lord of the Trees is a small but growing tree surgery business based near Haddington that works across Edinburgh and East Lothian.

We are looking for an experienced and capable Charge Hand to join our team.

You will have supervisory responsibility for employees at your work location; overall responsibility for planning and managing the work undertaken; and will act as the primary contact with the customer while the works are ongoing.

You will also be expected to take part in the work as required including a wide range of work from hedge cutting to large technical dismantles.

The job is hazardous and involves a large amount of strenuous physical activity in often adverse weather conditions and terrains.

 

Duties

Meeting customers and preparing quotations using our work management app

Working with the Climber and Groundsmen to plan work to minimise risk to people and property

Completing Risk Assessments in advance of works

Identifying and mitigating risks that cannot be eliminated

Communicating with the customer at the start and end of works to plan, identify hazards and ensure that works are completed to customer’s satisfaction

Issuing clear instructions to the team

Call-outs: On rare occasions you may be required to attend emergency call-outs for example after bad weather. On these occasions additional pay and/or time in lieu will be available.

 

 

Abilities

Physically fit and strong

Good eyesight and hearing

Fluent English and the ability to make, understand and follow verbal and written commands

Calmness under pressure

Ability to work with and manage a diverse team

Can-do attitude and taking ownership of problems

 

 

Qualifications

 

NPTC or equivalent in the following:

 

Aerial rescue

Tree climbing

Access a tree using rope and harness

Cutting of trees with a chainsaw using free-fall techniques

Ground-based chainsaw

Stump grinder

Wood chipper

Rigging

First aid
