Liquid Amber dying.

Help would be much appreciated.

Looked at the above tree this weekend and unfortunately 1/3 of the crown has died.

There seems to be a black liquid running down from the limb that has died.

The tree is in the front garden next to a stream.

Can anyone help with identifying what is wrong.

Thanks in advance
