There was someone on South Island looking for climbers in the last couple of months. Just keep scrolling back through the pages till you find them. Why do you want Auckland? It just like any other Cosmopolitan town! If you have no joy there just Google tree companies and contact them. New Zealand are opening up their migrant worker requirements so you should have some success.
As far as visa requirement go to New Zealand web sites.

As far as Auckland being a fun city it no different to any UK city, good parts, bad parts and pitsville. It’s got traffic when you commuting to work same as cities here. Having been all over North and South Island I’d personally go South. It’s got beautiful countryside, great biking roads, mountains and some of the best skiing in the world, oh! and work as well.

About

Arbtalk.co.uk is a hub for the arboriculture industry in the UK.
If you're just starting out and you need business, equipment, tech or training support you're in the right place.  If you've done it, made it, got a van load of oily t-shirts and have decided to give something back by sharing your knowledge or wisdom,  then you're welcome too.
If you would like to contribute to making this industry more effective and safe then welcome.
Just like a living tree, it'll always be a work in progress.
Please have a look around, sign up, share and contribute the best you have.

See you inside.
