Synthetic winch cable on capstan winch

Recommended Posts

I use an EDER 1800 portable capstan winch, mainly for skidding and pulling leaners over. I've only ever used double-braid rope with it but wonder if it's possible to use synthetic cable, like Sequorope or Dynalight, instead. Has/does anyone do this? I know it's a more expensive option but maybe better for the ease of splicing and much bigger resistance for the diameter. My main doubt is regarding the heat caused by friction on the winch drum.

Cheers for your thoughts.
