I am shortly going to do my Felling course upto 380 mm which is best to be certified by Lantra or city and guilds

Generally, LANTRA do training and NPTC City and Guilds do the Assessments. Most training providers (but not all) run the training as a LANTRA course with the NPTC Assessor coming in to assess you on its completion. You would then end up with a certificate of training (LANTRA) and an NPTC Certificate of Competence.
The latter is the certificate that you require.

Where are you doing the training/based?

This repeats a popular misconception that was the case a decade ago but since 2012 Lantra have also been providing assessments meeting the requirements of national occupational standards and qualifications (NOS) and qualification curriculum framefork (QCF).

Just ensure that following a training course you undertake either NPTC or Lantra inependent assessment. The assessment & certification is essentially the same just with a different logo.

From Lantra website:

We offer the most comprehensive range of chainsaw training and qualifications in the UK, we are the only awarding organisation able to offer you both training and assessment in one place.

Our training and qualifications reflect the latest industry requirements and current legislation and are fully recognised by industry, most notably by Forestry England, Forestry Land Scotland, National Resource Wales and Forestry Industry Safety Accord (FISA).

This is the case and I never claimed differently. I just explained to the OP how courses are ‘usually’ run. I have never been asked to conduct a LANTRA Independent Assessment on any course and no candidates/employers have ever asked for the LANTRA version over the NPTC, read into that what you wish.
