Jonsered 90 chainsaw - pull starter violently retracts?

Hello all,

I have a  Jonsered 90 chainsaw and am having a big problem with it nearly tearing my hand off when I pull the recoil starter. It goes to fire in and then my hand along with the pull starter violently retracts.....

Any Ideas why it is doing this?  (It is a non decompressor model).

Many thanks

John

You need to ease it just over compression, let the recoil retract and then pull it.

I have a jonsered 920 that I can't seem to get rid of and it is the same. It would never have been a problem to me twenty years ago.
