Ramaria stricta (the upright coral) "stricta" meaning upright. A densley forke coral fungi in association with broadleaf and coniferous humic materials, this one on a mix of chip, grass clippings and needle fall from leylandii. The mycelial matt under the substrate was remarkable.:001_cool:

Pretty sure they're the same as these ones on the Ginko mulch we were speaking about Tony, although your groups are larger and the branches look a little longer on yours.

I think yours are older clumps.

Your right about the mycelial matt on these things.

Yep same fungi, its all about the branch tips and attachments on these, though colour is also a key.

Its a seriously active fungi, i found a ball of woodchip absolutley bound up and lifting due to the mycelium running through it, was a cool fungus for sure, must be awsome from a bio ecological point of view.

You missed an amazing but very wet day in one of the best sites around, ive had one of the finest days hunting ever, though not quiet as good as our group foray in WW it did have a rather special moment, thats being saved for last.:001_cool:

The rain really brings the Oudies alive.

I've not really seen them that translucent before. :thumbup1:

Bet there wern't too many people about over there today.

Hopefully get some time away from the pack on Tuesday to go takes a looksee.

If not, I'm going to take the team over there in a few weeks for a few days graft, so hopefully the fung will still be in full flow then..
