Hamadryads fungus diary

I missed my boat to the APF today, it turned out just swell, with an early start it was off to Ashridge, and I walked hard from 8am to 6pm, had a great breakfast at the lodge too! Pulled a few stupid stunts for shots today, found a few new ones, and one rare one I can finaly put to bed, the Trametes suaveolens! going to be a lot of images today!

Scroll over them for the names

Thanks guys, yes tim Aurivella is a high fruiting fungi, really do see it hi into the canopy.

I could not bring myself to cut anything off the Suaveolens, it was just too beautifull, maybe when it ages a bit I will go for a section and off to kew with it. It was a site to behold I can tell ya, my camera was not good enough to do it justice.

That Laeti on beech was just mental, the biggest ive ever found and the colours where just unbelievable, wanted it on beech for a long time.

I cant thank Andrew B enough for showing me this place, it is a truly magnificant little pocket with so few visitors being far from the main estate. It is like burnham only going back a hundred years.

Heres a few more:001_cool:

I think i need to go see my therapist again, I worked in the rain, got soaked, dried off and left work at 1pm, then felt the need to stop at the Dell on the way home, and got drenched again! lucky I didnt fry my camera in that rain too!

Some great finds today, a new species for me, and a new parasitic species (fungal parasite) for me also, I have a new bracket on spruce which will go off to kew shortly after drying it out. The photos of that one will get put up as and when i have an ident.

I watched the rain drops puffing out the scleroderma spores in great clouds, and due to the heavy rain everything is coming up rapidly and glistening, it was a truly, deeply enjoyable afternoon.:thumbup1:
