Beech help needed

Hi I have a beech in the garden which has a splitting in the bark on 1 limb along with somesort of fungal growth (1st pic) and also something around the base of the trunk (pic 2/3).

Is anyone able to help with some advice on what it is and what to do with it and is it likely to fall over.

 

I can remove the affected limb fairly easily if necessary but dont really want to fell the tree as when in leaf it blocks out the industrial units that have recently been built across the field behind us. To remove it would leave a gaping hole in the skyline that this lovely tree fills.

 

Any help or advice greatly appreciated

Looks suspiciously like Kretzshmaria deusta at the base, which would mean that it should come down if its anywhere near buildings or public areas, the die back in the crown could be associated with this.

I guess i also need to check the large oak that stands about 20ft away from it as well then - anything else it may like that i need to check if i have any of them (cant actually remember what we have in the garden will have to check tomorrow in daylight)
