self employed mortgage

The missus and i brought a house in August last year. Had been looking since May and we managed to get a mortgage agreed in principal with a 10% deposit, When the first house fell through and we found another property we needed a larger mortgage. If we didn't have the original mortgage agreed in principal we would not have been able to get one, as a week after we had an agreement nearly all lenders went to 15% to 25% deposit.

We had to get the Mortgage in the missus name as i still have a few debts i'm clearing up. She managed to get one with her bank Natwest, repayment type and they offered the best with our deposit.

Good luck is all i say.

update , just for info.

got a mortgage in the end, through a broker, now with halifax, was fast tracked through in four days. we move in 2 weeks

took advice to avoid abbey, broker agreed too and told of lengthy waits

my advice, use a broker, they want to get you a mortgage

dont use a banks advisor

if planing to move within 2 years, make sure your tax returns (if self assessment) look favorable in the taxable profit box, even if this means sacrificing your depreciation and paying more tax.

tax returns can be adjusted up to 2 years after submission for this reason....legally and online.

finally....use a broker

good luck to anyone trying
