My reply was based on the board being thin as per your original post, in the world of furniture making 72mm isn't a thin board, I wrongly assumed you were referring to a thin board of 25mm.

Cutting a 72mm board in half shouldn't throw up to many problems, depending how far from the tree center it's been milled.
