two new species for me today, i had to do reductions on Araucaria heterophylla and Araucaria bidwilii.

twas great, it was indoors too, in a large public conservatory in lincoln. The Joseph Banks conservatory.

i think he was responsible for introducing one of the species too.

never worked on those before but did a few Araucaria araucana. are those ones as sore and sticky to work on?

foliage on one was quite soft and fern like, but the bidwilii was even sharper than araucana.

they only had light reductions to stop them pushing the glass out on the conservatory roof.

Removed a 45m Norfolk Island Pine in Perth WA when I was working there, we had two 24inch Vermeers working full time to keep up with 2 climbers stripping off the branches, so brittle, small undercut then literally touch the saw on the top of the branch, and it snaps off with a bang! then shatters as it hit the floor! the groundies earnt their money that day!

Thats weird Kevwrenn, one of our crews have been working within a huge glasshouse managed by Greenwich Uni today, although the poor lads have been stripping Bougainvillea from the frame work, for those that aren't familiar with this beautiful, yet vicious climber, it has needle sharp inch long thorns, puts Robinia to shame, boys were cut to ribbons! although no snow worries inside the heated dome! double edge sword!!
