Help Hakki pilke disaster

My ageing Hakki Pilki 2x has been churning out logs like mad and I was warming to its shortcomings when. Bang I started it up, one of the splitters was frozen and the machine ripped itself to bits. I dont think this could happen on the machines with a single ram. Any advice do i bodge it back together or cut my losses and buy another new one quick. The machine was 4 when i bought it and I think it had some serious use then now 9 years old. I was thinking of a bigger machine but then I need log deck to load large timber more forklifts noise damage to ground etc . 8k for a 370mm machine may be the way to go?

 

Stripped sat afternoon repaired and rebuilt sunday now working got pics if anyone needs them. Problem caused by splitting ram freezeing to frame. Makes a big mess underneath:scared1:

must have been one hell of a freeze for the ram to do so much damage!!!

what is the power of the ram??

 

Its a 5 tonne ram but because the machine has two rams it has a chain and a sprocket. Normally the load on the sprocket is just to return the other ram and oil back to tank. Because it was frozen it ripped the 4 12mm bolts out and pulled the sprocket up the bed frame. Used a tin of windscreen deicer this morning to make sure it did not happen again. Because the frost and sawdust build up under ram it could happen after a short break.

The dealer has not got one at the moment, should be a couple weks, i have a david brown 995 to run it on, i have been running the 1x37 on this so should be powerful enough i hope.:001_smile:

 

its not the power mate as it will run on 35hp, you just need to lift it as it weighs in around a ton
