Acenders

You probably ought to back up one of the lines if you use an apline butterfly knot on the access rope. If not then you should really back up both lines.

This is the more difficult bit! When the two are joined together its not possible to put a karabiner through the tope holes of the ascender so attachign a back up is not easy. A lehgth of rope passed throught the top holes and tied on with a friction hitch is one easy way but the added friction defeats the object of using ascenders.

The petlz ascentree ascenders are easier to back up, and this is why the are more advantageous.

Put them back to back and fix together using zip ties. Or, for a more permanent solution trim the inner part of the rubber handle away from each ascender (get an adult to help you with a stanley knife!) and then tape the two together with insulting tape.

Hey, Rupe, where can I get hold of some of that insulting tape? It'd go really well with my sorting hat and my Nimbus 3000!

Hey Mark! How are you? I was sure you going to berate me for promoting use of stuck together ascenders! Yes they can be dodgy and I should have said back up is essential.

Anyway, insulting tape is too offensive for your delicate ears Mark. I've got a roll that calls me a *&^% on a regular basis so I leave it in the shed with my talking boots, they get on fine!
