Jonsereds 49SP Chain Drive

Hi all, I'm new here but would appreciate help with my Jonsereds 49SP renovations.

I'm currently triying to breath life back into four 49SP's which is going well,  but have come across a challenge with the chain drive on a couple. The spur socket is worn on two of them (type XG-167-A7) and needs replacing but having trouble locating a suitable replacement in the UK.

One if the other 49SPs has been converted to a  rim sprocket  using an Oregon 18242 clutch cover and 3/8 - 7 rim sprocket but I haven't been able to find one of these and various suppliers just at that they are no longer available.

Does anyone know of a compatible type of suitable dimensions that will fit as I would like to convert all four to rim sprockets. I'm sure the 49sp wasn't unique in its clutch sizing and others probably used the same size. The original spur socket codes were 504 52 00-04 (3/8) or 504 52 00-05 (.325)

I've attached a diagram of the two types fitted to my saws for reference.

Regards

Ian

Thanks peatff and good spot on the code, I have edited my post accordingly.

I have looked on ebay and there is a wealth of part in the US, unfortunately some don't ship to the UK due to issue of cost with returning if there is an issue, also, the postage cost can make it uneconomical but I accept that this may be my only route.

I have tried a few suppliers but they don't seem to have very good cross reference tables that show other saws with the same dimension of clutch cover /bearing so hoping that someone else has had the same issue and can speak to a suitable alternative.

The saws won't get a lot of use, more of a nostalgic venture to bring these beauts back to  a serviceable life so looking to keep cost down.

I am also looking for a 49sp coil 504 39 17-01 if by chance someone has one.

Well, hello there.    I also have a few of these, very nice too.  I like the rim drive, and also have trouble locating fresh rim type clutches for any new to me saws. Very occasionally it is possible to pick on up on the bay.  Dealers look at me in astonishment when you explain what for. I prefer these drives as a little less vibes from saw = more of a todays feel experience.   The only solution is America, but it takes time and more for postage than the drum itself. Still, at forty ish yrs old and still a great saw I reckon it's worth it.  Compared to todays screamers, these have a real air of authority and class.  When got up together again, totally dependable.   My only other advice is change crank seals, both can be done in 30mins after a few under your belt, and a lot of work if you run the crank bearings dry. Cost- around 1.50 ea, available nearly any where.  DOUBLE LIPPED.  Good luck with your quest.
