New Unicender arrives !

Recommended Posts

Well. One costly bottle of wine that was ;) ( ordered unicender on ebay ! ) 300 notes and a week later it arrives , anyway , long day at work so dark on return , rigged up on newl post just to see how it felt in the harness ( Petzel AVAO for my skinny ass :P ) used to climb on New England Hi Vi with VT hitch n pulley ( homemade Rope wrench fr SRT ) fr decade or more . Certainly ok - but age an poorly shoulder cuffs made me consider this .....

Set it up with a nice braid tether first - as per instructions - sat very high away from my stubby arms , used Petzel hand ascender and foot ascender with a back tether for support . Used bungee to lead it up , was comfy but then attached it to harness D , much comfier ! Advanced well , with minimum effort , then descent was ..... ummmm ... I know they say there is a minimum climbers weight fr it to work - but ended up using the 'expert' mode to get down :P

Yup ! Expert mode is well abrupt ! ( bit of backbone jarring ) set it up fr SRT , with bungee on Ascender ( with back tether ) again nice n comfy - good body orientation ( I must have been doing it wrong - all these years ! )

So , when lighter evenings come round - we will take it out n do a few good 15m ascents on Hi Vi New England n Teufelberger red to see how rope stretch and pace gain turn out . Plus test how it branch walks - which I believe will be better with short tether / direct attach . But we will see ;) even Geff the Ginger Ghost was impressed !
