We have found that the fuel seeps past the rings and fills the sump up if the solenoid does not seal properly!

On a related note: The flywheel has jammed on my Farmi CH160 and it's locked solid. Put a long, about 3" pole through (not excessive) and the butt of it stuck. Managed to get that loose and there's nothing obviously obstructing the flywheel (usually if there's a lump in there that you can't back out, you can turn the flywheel by hand and shave it down if necessary!). 

 

It's PTO driven from a 45HP tractor. Not a PTO issue but the belts just slip when I try to run the chipper now, and the flywheel won't budge, even with a bit of 'persuasion'.

 

Could the bearings have seized up when in use? I bought it second-hand about 6 months ago, but it's done less than 10 hours since then. Or is there a way of getting into the intake chamber to see what's going on beneath the flywheel?

I've had flywheels jam solid if a piece of wood manages to get between the outer edge of the flywheel and the wrap..

It can take something like a scaffolding bar to turn it to free it off.

Thanks, that does seem like the most likely thing. I'll give that a try.

The bearings would have to be very, very bad (welded together) before any drag would noticeable. Like Jase says, open the top a get the big bar! Rotate it backwards too!

Thanks Jase and Pete - brute force and persistence did the trick. A knotty bit was jammed between the wheel and the casing.
