Hi people, Small job 3 eucalyptus all need reducing about 30% and all no more than 20ft high and 4" diamater so climbing is not an option and can't use ladders third problem is that there is an electric wire (insulated though) running within 2ft of two of the trees so bit reluctant to use mewp. Any ideas welcome.

tell them they are the wrong trees and just fell them, or monkey monkey, i have been up some tall skiny gums, just hug in tight. or step ladder up the side and get the loppers out

Tempted by the Hayauchi, but want it to look really good and pole saw bounces about a little.

tempted to monkey up there as well but worried may cause some damge to smaller branches maybe laddder up then tie in if possible but dont wanna look like a pikey,

you can only do what you can, steps up the side, loppers and handsaw. maybe even get the secateurs out to finish if you want

just use the 'death-on-a-stick' for the larger dia bits, then use the manual loppers and a A-frame ladder to reach the rest.

Sold! I think i'll stick to handsaws and try not to nreak anything.

gum is super spindly, you can cut out the leaders and just tickle it over with the hedge cutter. job done

Why cant you use ladders?

 

If there that thin then while trying to shin up you will prob end up breaking all the side branches off.
