Hi Guys, Hope you are all well.

I am struggling with a question on some homework I have had and wondered if anyone can help.

The subject is know how to maintain Health And Safety and the questions are

1. Describe the reasons for maintaining good personal and workplace hygiene?

2. State own ability to deal with health and safety emergencies (eg not carrying out actions beyond own capabilities)

I am pretty sure the answer to one of these if not both is to reference a health and safety legislation but just having brain meltdown any help would be greatly appreciated.

Never was good at school, and understanding exactly what the point of questions was but heres my thoughts on point 1.

Why maintain good personal hygiene?  Becauses its good bloody manners.  I have worked with people in the past who I couldn't even sit in the truck with to eat my lunch, thats simply not fair on anyone.  Shower daily, and if you have a body odour problem then take plenty of deodrant.  Someone can be forgiven for smelling at the end of a long hot day, but theres no excuse for turning up to work first thing in the morning smelling, and wearing dank, stinking clothes that clearly haven't been washed for a fortnight.

Gloves.....had a lad the other day who had been given a hand me down pair of gloves, when he got in my truck it absolutely stunk, told him to put the gloves in the back....didn't help at all as the smell was already on his hands, had to put up with that all the way back to the yard.

Get your own gloves, helmet, and anything else that you will be personally wearing.  If your boss won't provide them then either look into the legalities of that, or buy your own.
