Whats the matter with builders?!

I've decided to get a porch built and have asked 3 local builders to give quotes - one was recommended. All 3 turned up eventually and duely measured up promising to have written quotations round within the week. Exactly what I expected - pretty much what you'd get in the tree industry. Anyway, 4 weeks later and still no quotations! I guess there must be loads of work out there for these boys? To top it off, one guy spoke to a neighbour who is having the same thing done (joint job) and said that he could only work half days because it would be hard work although he would charge for full days as he'd be too tired to go and work elsewhere in the afternoon! Man alive!! What planet are these guys on?

 

Anyway, cutting to the chase... anyone know a good builder in Wiltshire?

My other company that I'm more a less silent partner in do a lot of work in at the MOD estates in Tidworth and Bulford down that way if it's near you and I'm sure we could quote you. I honestly don't know if we'd be competitive or not, but you'd have it all in writing within the timescale agreed.

Unfortunately so true - I have never understood why so many tree surgeons are so crap at actually arriving and providing a written estimate. Surely we all need the work!?
