Pricing Heathland Clearance

We've been asked to price some clearance work on a local heathland. bit to keep us busy over the winter crimbo period.

But struggling to work a realistic price as not really done it before, apart from back in the day when i was a young volunteer with a bow saw!

does anyone have a rough price or know roughly what is charged per hectare nowadays so i don't go in with something stupid. it's hand cutting, dragging by hand to be burnt. no machines except chainsaws for cutting and backpack stump treatment. i think around 15 man days of work or there abouts so getting my price from that roughly. mixed scrub birch gorse oak all around 10 years roughly and fairly dense.

any idea anyone?

Without seeing it I would say forget the "rate" , if its only fifteen man days total work back off of that . On this type of work we use one cutter to three/four labourers and get the sprayer to run a day behind the cutter so they are not tripping over each other.
