Phytopthora on Maple?

Hi everyone,


Maple, relatively dry site, no larch or rhodo near, only tree affected out of a line of 5, no other evidence of decay etc.  Cant rotate image, sorry.598988280d327_DSC_01281.thumb.jpg.101d1dc657a98cb611a4bcf53b7803ea.jpgy help appreciated.

Hello David,


I've booked in a further inspection for the Autumn.  On this particular area no mycelium present but will re-inspect then.

Looks to be a significant root girdle going on which may have an influence on the vitality of the vascular cambium on that section of the tree, which could pave the way for secondary infections.


might be worth excavating that area to look for rhizomorphs.
