Ever Seen This Happen Before?

Just interested if anyones ever come across this before? is it from a cheap spring? any way, any suggestions where online i can replace it with out spending hours on fleabay!!

It looks like it's wound up the wrong way. Will the spring not catch at all if the starter cord is wound up the other way?

no it wouldn't catch, wen i would try and start it, it must of just pinched because it stoped the cord pullling back in with the recoil. but its weird because its pinched half way up the coil of the spring. i duno ay

Unless it's an optical illusion that recoil is wound backwards .

Had the same thing happen to a kawasaki hedge cutter the spring compressed just replace the spring.
