Alternatives to 2nd aux line on the 360 for a rotator.

As the title says, are there any alternative ways to piping up a 2nd auxiliary line on the tb175 for a rotator? I've heard mention of putting a diverter on the bucket ram, is that feasible? Would certainly give me proportional control of it rather than just the remaining buttons on the joystick to connect to potentially.

I think you pretty much answered your own question, as the easiest way for a free swinging grab is to simply put taps in the bucket ram lines and divert the flow to power the rotator on the grab. You are correct that this would give you good control via the machines own servo lever, but my own personal preference would be to have the grab function running off this circuit, as it is more intuitive to use that way.

If you use it for the grab function you need to fit flow reducers into the rotate lines to allow you to get this to a nice controllable level, and these are readily available plus not too expensive.

Depending on your offset boom control arrangements, and whether this is a comfortable alternative, you can simply divert this and pipe it up the boom/dipper giving you a cheap extra auxiliary circuit with good control and the ability to make a nicer mounting for the grab in the form of a short extension.

No problem. Just send me a message if you struggle to get anything sorted and I'll do my best to point you in the right direction.

Do yourself a big favour and fit a basic front screen guard on when the grab is utilised, things can come at you real fast!

TB 175. I have the thumb control for the grapple. The crowd ram is turned off manually and diverted to rotate. (see the picture) This then operates in a similar way to my old County/Botex forwarder. Rotate on the left-hand lever. right for clockwise & left anti.

All attachments are on flush faced couplings and as you can see I have wrapped the pipework in spiral guarding.

Approved Hydraulics supplied the Baltrotor to suit the machine.

You could restrict the flow on the grapple circuit as it is quite fast. If I used this more often I probably would.

Disadvantages are that you are operating a machine with crooked arm and not a straight one so I sometimes find height restriction an issue.

If this was a permanent fixture I'd probably not have the quick-hitch but with all multipurpose tools there are compromises:001_smile:

P S. As Eddie has suggested fit a screen! Good call.
