Description

This FORST ST8 wood chipper, with only 396 hours use, was purchased by our small family business on 28/5/2020.  Like all the equipment the family business has, it has always been really well cared for.

The ST8 has the 8" feed roller system with the 'FORSTGrip Auto Intelligence' electronics.

The reason for sale is that the business has just purchased a new ST8 and we would like an additional, and slightly smaller, FORST ST6.  So this chipper is surplus to requirements and has, reluctantly, to be sold.

The 'as new' price of a current ST8 is just short of £30k.  We believe the selling price therefore represents real value given it's been ran by a small family-run business and cared for (i.e. not pounded by a major 'arb business' where the operators don't really care about the machine as it's not their own and there's no real history either!)

We service our own machines as we then know they have been carried out properly! The service history is as follows:
30 hours - hydraulic oil changed and fuel filter changed
55 hours - oil changed, new oil filter
173 hours - oil changed, oil filter changed and fuel filter changed
334 hours - oil changed, oil filter changed and fuel filter changed
The next engine oil and filter change is due at 534 hours.

The KUBOTA diesel engine V1505-TE is the biggest engine on an ST8 and produces = 42.0hp intermittent and continuous 36.5hp (at c 3000 revs).

KUBOTA's engine service recommends the oil and filter should be changed every 200 hours.  However, you can see we really look after our equipment and always change the oil and filter well ahead of time.

We also only use on CASTROL Magnatec Synthetic oil as it helps protect warm up and re-start wear and we use it in all our machines.  (The engine of another very old and very worn looking chipper we have was stripped down for a new valve to be fitted.  The mechanic inspected the piston-and-pot and said it looked like it had never been used!)

The fuel filter is scheduled by FORST to be changed at 400 hours per the manual.  (It has already been changed twice and the last time at 334 hours as per the above).

The top feed roller bearing was changed ahead of 400 hours.

Prior to sale, we've had the machine taken in by FORST and checked over.  Any items covered by warranty have been sorted, including any paintwork needed.  We had FORST replace the rear light-cluster bar with a new one as the bar had taken a minor reversing knock.  We won't sell anything that would need to be replaced or looks poor prior to sale (cosmetic wear and tear excluded).

The chipper has new blades and will also come with a bottom-feed roller bearing and brackets (Oilite spherical bearing) that we would have replaced in c 50 hours.  So the bearing can be changed by the new owner for certainty of service and timing.

The trailer has a fully braked chassis and both trailer tyres are in great condition. The side-hung spare has never been off and still shows the new tyre markings!

We have the KUBOTA engine manual AND the FORST chipper manual and the machine has two starter keys.

All photo's are of the machine to be sold.

As the business purchased this machine from new, we have to add VAT to the sale price so it will be

Net sale £15,995 plus
     VAT £3,199 =
     Total £19,194.

We will raise a full VAT invoice prior to release to enable any VAT registered business to claim back the VAT.

Collection from the Warwick area or delivery within 30 miles of Warwick FOC.

Open to reasonable best offers and will throw in an old Greenmech chipper if ticket price paid!
