Deadwooding in conservation area

Hi guys, seeking some help on how the law affects the following, couldn't seem to find anything on here regarding this. I've just got a job come in that involves a small woodland, privately owned but within a conservation area. Two dead beech stems which I believe can be taken down under the DDD act and so no notification has to be given to council? Additionally the client wants any major dead wood to be removed from some oaks on this land that could be a threat to the kids that use this area for paintball. He's looking to do this ASAP, but I'm unsure on whether deadwooding can be done in a conservation area without waiting potentially six weeks.

Any help appreciated

The removal of deadwood is exempt from the need for a notification letter; however, I would always inform the local TO in case curtain twitchers hear chainsaws revving etc.

Also keep in mind that 1 x of the D's has been removed (DDD), it's now only dead or dangerous; the dying has been removed from the exemptions.

Useful posts above, thank you.

Just to clarify, if you are removing dead branches from live trees, or dead branches from dead trees but "don't go there", you are not obliged / required to 'serve notice.'

However, as also advised, and particularly if it's in a deemed sensitive area, a quick call, and ideally email, to the Planning Dept / Tree Officer would be helpful / courteous.

Cheers..

Paul

PS Also remember, particularly on Oak, there's lots of little beasties and wrigglies that need that aerial deadwood for habitat etc. so go easy :001_huh:
