Why so many new threats to trees and few benefits

Increased Global Warming and Globalisation has increased threats to UK trees and 'new' threats like Fraxinus chalara are occurring and coming here.

My concern is that other than increased Co2 allowing trees to grow quicker,

why are there so few new benefits that trees are getting, it all seems new negatives.

Shouldn't the threats be matched by benefits? Why is it all bad news? I am missing something?

I appreciate that some of the threats have arrived in this country, but their natural predators have not arrived.

Top of my wish list

Something that eats OPM, leafminer, grey squirrels, muntjac..... could be a long list

Introducing a new non-native predator could cause a whole new list of problems potentially.

Good news tends to travel a lot slower than bad news, but in my view the good news and benefit to the trees is how far the industry has come and how much better an understanding we have of tree management that we did 20-30 years ago.

Although there are a number of new diseases we are in a much better place to deal with and manage them and from what I have seen, there has become an increased public awareness of the threats facing our trees.
