Husky 350 chain plate guide

Hi all, am trying to get the chain plate guide off my husky 350 but can't seem to get the plastic gear off that covers the plate.

 

I've taken the clutch off and the removed the screw holding the chain plate in place but for some reason I can't get the plastic gear off, it spins round but if don't want to force it in case I break it!! Lol
