  2. Sorbus are pleased to announce that we are hosting another workshop to benefit our customers on: Modern Climbing Tools and Techniques A complete practical overview of all the latest tools and techniques run by expert trainer in tree work and forestry, Tony Darbyshire and 3ATC winner Geoff Pugsley. An insight into rapidly developing new techniques and rope climbing tips for the arborist climber to help you be as productive, safe and comfortable as possible in the trees. Saturday 8th October We are all aware that this industry is constantly evolving and new techniques and tools are being introduced regularly, it almost seems that you just learn one technique and then there is another new shiny gadget out to learn about all over again! To help climbers get a better understanding we are offering a ‘hands-on’ experience in a variety of systems, starting at our brand new premises in Frome and then off to the beautiful grounds of Ammerdown Park in Kilmersdon. To get your space and for more information book online here: https://www.sorbus-intl.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&path=699&product_id=7062 If you would like to discuss any aspect of the course with us please don't hesitate to call us on 01373 475540 or email: [email protected] Thanks, The Sorbus Team
  3. I'm trying to identify somewhere in London or the south east where i could go and practice my climbing skills etc. The council and private landowners will no doubt ignore me or tell me to do one, so that seems to leave...well nowhere! Does anyone have any ideas or tips on where i could find somewhere, or maybe who i should be speaking to? Thanks James
  4. Hello, I am currently wishing to undergo a career change, I hope to become a tree surgeon but realize to do this I will have to start with the basics and undergo the training I need. Would you or do you know anyone that would be interested in taking on a trainee / apprentice? would there be a basic minimum i would need to do this ? such as the courses i have listed below. I am currently saving to complete: Basic Crosscutting and maintenance Small tree felling Tree Climbing & Aerial Rescue Use of a chainsaw from a rope I will hopefully be completing these over the next 4 months. if you know of any grants or funding that i could access i would be very grateful. Or if you want someone to update your website / social marketing in exchange for course payment, that could also be an option. I am looking for experience, either working for a company or an individual that would be willing to train me / share there experience with me and help me achieve my long term goal. I am currently in full time employment and am looking at the options available to me to re-train either at college / with a tree surgeon or company in the south (I live in Bournemouth). I am very determined and have a variety of skills, as you can see in my attached CV. However i would like to reiterate that its experience I am after, a foot in the door and a chance to work my way up the ladder, so to speak. If I have to continue my current employment to pay for the courses required and gain experience on the weekend, I am more than willing to do this. Thanks for taking the time to read this and I look forward to your reply. P.S the free chocolate is for the person who is willing to take me on and train me up Jamie Macdonald CV.doc
