  1. I live in the West Virginia panhandle and have plans to build a large heavy treehouse in this black walnut tree. I would like any advice this community has to offer on how to promote this tree's growth and longevity. I am using TABs and all the treehouse friendly anchoring techniques. Specifically I want to know if it would help my tree to cut down the closest Norway Pine that is growing about 7 ft away on the north side. The pine and walnut are competing pretty aggressively. I've read that black walnuts like full sun. Should I try to create more room for my tree by cutting back the closest competition or would it be better to leave it alone the way it grew.tombegine with and just make sure the soil is good?
