  1. It could be Paul/ As I said, if it was flat and spinning then it's much more in my line, but upright and living I wouldn't know? Thank you for the idea though. It has been a bit breezy here at times, but I wouldn't have thought more than other years? I tend to keep an eye on wind strength and direction as another hobby of mine is standing on the tops of the hills around Stroud chucking radio controlled gliders into the wind.
  2. I have to admit that ALL of that walnut would be quite something! But it's a lovely tree and the couple who own it are even older than me and aren't in too good health and if there is a problem with it then I want to let them know before it gets beyond redemption and could possibly be saved? So, have you any odeas as to if there is a problem with it? It has always come into leaf quite late and if they are dying off naturally then they won't have been there for very long. as I said, I normally see the wood horizontally and spinning. Walnut is beautiful both stood and as a turned piece. Especially when it's combined with nice dry ash Can you tell me what I need to do to get email notification to answers please?
  3. Hi folks, I am a total newbe to both the forum and talking about possible tree problems. I am retired and the wood that I normally see is horizontal and spinning as I am a passionate hobby wood turner. My question is about a walnut tree in our neighbours garden that overhangs our garden. We are friends of the neighbour and there aren't any problems over the tree, but sat at the lunch table today I noticed that there are a lot of the branch endings that have some quite sad looking leaves. It's a fairly large and lovely tree as you can see. My question is, is this some kind of infection in the tree or just something caused by weather conditions? We have had a fair bit of rain and although it has been hot we had a longer hot spell last year and didn't notice anything amiss then.
