  1. Apprentice Arborist About Us At Edinburgh Gardeners, we have a superb team. Not only are we great climbers but we are all trained in arboriculture which a lot of people in this sector are not. Being highly skilled in the science of arboriculture means that we can perform great tree pruning jobs and take downs but it also means that we can give good advice to customers about how to take care of their garden plants, perform professional tree surveys, design plantscapes and repair plants damaged by unskilled people. We have an office with three administrative staff who in conjunction with the arb team process a great many customer enquiries, planning applications, surveys etc in a highly efficient manner using a variety of online tools / apps: databases, graphic arts software, tree surveying resources, planning sites, mapping technology. Job Description We are after an ambitious person who is ready to learn every facet of this successful business. We train our staff to a high standard as this is what differentiates us from our competition and why customers choose us even though they know we are not the cheapest option. You will be expected to study in your own time and attain the professional tree inspector qualification (PTI). You will of course be supported in this endeavor and mentored by our knowledgeable and friendly team. We will also pay the course fees. This position would suit someone who has recently attained the following: Tree Climbing & Aerial Rescue – NPTC 203 CHAINSAW TRAINING.MAINTENANCE & OPERATION. FELL & PROCESS SMALL TREES (up to 380mm diameter) (Training Preparing for City & Guilds NPTC 201 & 202 (Formally 201,202 & 203 Assessments) Chainsaw Use From Rope & Harness. Cutting Of Trees Using Free-Fall Techniques – NPTC 204 If you have some but not all of the above still apply for this position, we want to hear from the right candidate: we hire for personality not for skill. We can and do train people all the time. We cannot teach people how to be dilligent, thoughtful and honest but those qualities are preferred over easily obtained qualifications. About the job Objectives The main objectives of this function are as follows: - The delivery of a high standard of arboricultural and grounds maintenance and landscaping operations to meet the aims and requirements of Edinburgh Gardeners Ltd and its service users ensuring trees are maintained in a safe and healthy condition, and gardens and grounds are in good condition and wildlife is jealously guarded at all times - To contribute to the achievement of the key objective for Edinburgh Gardeners by undertaking a comprehensive range of flexible, responsive, and planned duties within the company. These duties will include Grounds Maintenance and other activities that impact on the outside environment.
