  1. I'll try that thanks.
  2. Ok mate. Thanks.
  3. Ok mate. Thanks again.
  4. Cheers Will. I'll try that. I'm fully aware that this is a cheap saw. It's just a little project. Speaking of my mate Mick, I pulled a chainsaw out of a skip and changed the perished fuel lines which cost only £3 and sold it for £65. I went to a car boot last month and picked up 2 chainsaws for £8. One was a McCulloch and the other one from our far eastern friends. Got them both running. Sold them both for a combined price of £110. These saws may not be to people's liking on here but there's definitely a market for them and they will sell. I'm definitely leaning towards the damaged threads theory now.
  5. Thanks for your advice. I'll try the detergent trick. Would the head need removing if I were to helicoil the thread?
  6. Another typical useless answer from another chainsaw snob. Must be a small penis thing over compensating with a large Husqvarna 🤔
  7. Hi all I would just like some advice on a free chainsaw that I came across. It's a cheap Chinese saw so I'm not asking for any miracles. The chainsaw wouldn't start at first. I noticed that the spark plug didn't look seated correctly and looked slightly cross threaded. I managed to re seat the plug which now looks flush and is very tight. The threads don't appear to be stripped. I noticed that the original toggle kill switch was useless and I replaced it with a different type of switch. I got the saw running and after about 5 mins I noticed a very slight oil leak coming from where the spark plug is. The spark plug is a used one. My question/s is what is causing this? and would a new spark plug with a better washer solve the problem?. Thanks.
  8. Thanks for your advice. Much appreciated.
  9. Lol 😂 Thanks again mate.
  10. Hi again. I've come to the conclusion that there is a bearing at fault like Pleasant stated. My friend has the same model of chainsaw and I swapped the pull cord assembly over and the problem still persists thus eliminating anything wrong with the pull assembly. I think when refitting the assembly, it centralizes everything and causes the issue with the bearing seizing up. I would just like to say thanks for everyone's valuable advice and knowledge. I would like to say an even bigger thanks to Gareth, he's certainly the biggest tool that every toolbox requires 😁 and his advice was invaluable in diagnosing my problem. Thanks all and much appreciated.
  11. I'll try the side to side up and down motion tomorrow. Thanks for your advice. I'll post tomorrow. Much appreciated.
  12. Once I remove the recoil, the flywheel is seized. I have to use a socket and ratchet to free it off. Once free the flywheel moves freely by hand. When I refit the pull assembly. The engine will seize after a few pulls. I will then have to repeat the above procedure.
  13. Not sure. I'm going to have to strip it down completely to investigate. Thanks
  14. I was thinking that, but why does the flywheel keep seizing?
  15. Hi there, Once I've freed off the flywheel when the pull assembly has been removed, the flywheel will freely turn over by hand. As soon as i refit the pull assembly, after a few pulls it will seize up again.
  16. No it doesn't run at the moment. Its locking up with and without the spark fitted.
  17. Yes thanks.
  18. That's like my flywheel at the moment lol. Gareth is definitely in season!
  19. Definitely a menopausal reply. I bet your missus/boyfriend says the same about you lol. POS!
  20. Good night Gareth. It's well past your bedtime. Thanks again for your help. You've certainly increased my rank on this forum with your posts and my replies. Probably the only useful thing that you've done by the way
  21. Hi Will, Yes it'll turn freely by hand once I free the flywheel off with a socket. The assembly/housing seems fine.
  22. Unfortunately, I'm trying to leave this room but Gaz won't let me!
  23. Not sure. When I remove the assembly, I can't rotate the flywheel unless I free it off with a socket. I think it's the piston.
  24. But you are arguing. Do you fancy me or something Gazza?. Do you not have a wife or boyfriend to play with or are you of the gender neutral brigade?.
