  1. I have had a washingtonia robusta palm tree for 10 years that I grew from a seed. It is becoming too large for the pot it is in and for my house (about 8 feet tall now). I live in Massachusetts, where the winters are very cold and we get a significant amount of snow. I am wondering if my palm tree would survive outside if I were to plant it in the ground? What steps would I need to take to protect it over the winter from the snow? Would I be better off trying to find a place with tall ceilings to take it for me (thinking my town library)? I would appreciate any advice anyone can provide. Thank you!
