    There are many Magnolias so I can't say the stem isn't one.  What other leaves were in the litter?

    Not really much more than the beech and a few oak. That said I'm only learning myself so just starting to pick up in what things are myself..

  2. Let me clarify I would have got more pics but sadly the tree seems to be totally dead so no leafs or buds I could see. The woodland it's in does appear to have plenty of pine/poplar in (as Mick mentioned earlier !) But the bark seems quite different which is what has sparked my curiosity

    Exactly mate.. It's the golden egg I'm trying to find. That as well as ash I've been led to believe but I'm only learning so haven't managed yet to be 100% certain when I've found the stuff. 🤔
