  1. I like the TEUFELBERGER Xstatic 11.7, great rope for srt as its low stretch. Lasts well with foot ascender's and doesn’t flatten with using a rope runner. Down side is it can’t be spliced.
  2. Worth looking up the instructions for the sling, it should tell you how and where the date is listed on the item. A lot of manufacturers have the date of manufacture within the serial number. DMM for example is the first two numbers are the year and the next three numbers are day of manufacture. If the sling is CE certified it will have to have the date in there somewhere, why manufactures won’t just put them on there as a date is bizarre, or at least all do it the same way. Think most textiles as said, is five years, but some like climbing harnesses are ten years now. Also date of first use can be the point set life span starts from.
  3. Quickie does work real well, only reason I’ve avoided them is working in the uk, they don’t do a CE product conformity for them. Figured after making sure I’m properly insured and have it all loler checked, climbing on something that in an accident might void it all just worried me, probably me just being over the top though. Hopefully Notch will bring one out that does?
  4. Just a cut down spanner, keep it attached to the maillon.
  5. I use one for canopy anchors. Rings are good but find with ultra links you can move or progress your anchor point on easier with you being able to attach it anywhere, without having to feed the end of the rope through the ring. I also use a mallion with half a spanner attached to cinch up or unscrew it. If you’re after total bomb proof though, go ring. I’m very happy to use ultra links.
  6. I use a sequoia srt harness, use the bridge for working in the tree and for ascending, the central belay loop comes in great for working on spar on a take downs though, keeps everything close in especially using a rope runner. When I was using a rope wrench I would use the central attachment use on assent as bringing everything closer makes ascending easier. Think adjustable bridges on a lot of the new harness would do this to though.
