  1. Albach Chipper Operator: Renewable Energy, Done Differently. SDL Biomass offers a unique and comprehensive service in the production and supply of renewable energy across the UK. The material created from our forestry, arboricultural and site clearance operations is used in our biomass facility, which not only puts energy back into the grid, but also generates the heat and energy needed to produce BSL, Woodsure, ENplus®A1 accredited fuel wood made from local sawmill bi products. Distributed with our in-house HGV fleet, these wood pellets fuel houses, and businesses across the country. Safety, sustainability, and development are at the heart of what we do - an ethos that runs from our procedures and working practices to our equipment and staff, creating a safe and positive work culture, and promoting growth and learning at all levels throughout the company. Job Role This role is primarily responsible for the day to day running and operation of the specialist plant equipment (Albach Chipper & 360) and any other required company machinery. The role also involves representing the company and dealing with clients in a professional manner. The role will be working alongside the Operation & Transport Manager. Monday-Friday, additional overtime hours may be required.. £11-£16ph, dependent upon experience and qualifications. Key Responsibilities - Daily checks on vehicles to ensure they are road worthy, this includes tyre checks, and producing the correct documentation for the Transport Manager. - Safe driving standards. - Representing the company at all sites in a professional and competent manner. - Maintaining vehicles and all equipment to a high standard (machines to be cleaned at least once a week and cabs are to be kept clean and tidy at all times). - Respecting company property including cabs, trailers and all equipment. - Safe loading and unloading of materials, - using initiative to load and unload materials safely without causing injury to themselves or damage to the vehicles. - Willingness to help others in the team as and when required and to also learn how to drive various machines within the company and help with any manual tasks if required too. - If you are unsure you must ask. - Comply with all health & safety policies and procedures and wear appropriate PPE when required. - The role may involve tree felling and processing. - A varied role with the ability to help in various aspects of the company. - Operating Albach Chipper, (and potentially telehandler, 360 machines, forestry timber crane and any other required company machinery). - Mechanically minded with a hands on approach. Qualifications (Experience and qualifications listed would be advantageous but not essential. We value an ideal candidate with a willingness to learn and undertake training in equal measure.) - Past history and ability to drive various plant machinery. - Clean driving licence. - Good work ethic. - Good communication skills with a polite manner. - Willingness to work and be part of a team. - CSCS or CPCS qualification. - FMO certificate. - Telehandler, 360 machine, forestry timber crane experience are all beneficial but not essential - Mechanical experience essential Benefits to a career at SDL: Simply Health; a health benefits scheme providing health care support and cover for our employees including virtual GP appointments, gym discounts and much more!
