  1. I agree let's get rid of it.
  2. I didn't bleat (expletives deleted) I asked for advice, and when I didn't have a positive response to the gear and dared to question it you cut me off completely. Hence I am cross.
  3. Hello. Here's the man himself. I am sure they all now far more than me. Thinking of a career change actually. Clearly not cut out for this.
  4. I think I am being so stubborn (and I can see that I am) because I have only had the 'you obviously don't know what you are' doing response. How about I admit to being a tad heavy handed, apologies for whinging and as you have rightly pointed out just get on and use the gear that suits me. The hardnose bar does sap some power but with an 881 it makes very little odds and the chain tension is far easier to set up than the other chain which I won't mention again. I can tension a chain, I can gauge the feedback through the saw when milling and I have been doing it for nearly but not quite 20 years. Still no idea why I failed so badly with the lo Pro or why so many others have, but they obviously have their place as there are plenty of success stories. To see what I am milling look for Alasdair Kilpatrick on Instagram, plenty of pics there. No offense or criticism of you guys or chsinsawbars intended. Time to move on I think. Thanks for the input and patience of all.
  5. Here we go again. Plenty of people are finding issues. It's not just me but I really don't think this is going anywhere and I believe I am sounding as many have pointed out like a bit of a knob. Differences of opinion are allowed. If I could work out how to delete my account I would happily leave you all to it. But I can't. Of the dozen or do people I know who use chain saw Mills for a living most would not go near lo Pro at all and off those that tried it 4 not including me have experienced issues specifically related to the lo Pro set up. If pointing that out makes me a bleating moron then so be it. But.. It is genuinely the case and I will happily accept that those who use this sort of platform to prove they know best consider us to be inexperienced feck wits. It really doesn't change the facts.
  6. Yeah I am not a forum sort of guy as you can probably tell. I just had no idea what I was doing wrong with the lo Pro stuff and thought this was the place to go for a bit of wisdom. Non specific user error is the put come. Which I'd fine. I don't treat my kit gently and ask a lot if the gear I use. Still not sure comparing lo Pro chsin to a ferrari is selling it to any one though. Thanks for putting me right.
  7. Fair point well made. Just wanted to see if other people have the same issues. Turns out some do some don't. Thank you for pointing out my limitations.
  8. Yeah unavoidable user errors but absolutely always user errors nothing at all to do with the gear.
  9. So your saying I should stick with the lo Pro but not use it for milling because it will break but if I keep it and don't use it it will be fine. Any one on here use a ferrari for humping wood around. No I didn't think so it's not fit for purpose. Same goes for lo Pro. Not sure if your agreeing with me or not but you make my point very succinctly. I was told by Rob that the ferrari in question was up to the job.
  10. Its a stihl duramatic 48 inch bar with oregon ripping chain. I got the bar milled out to fit the panther and with out the sprocket I got an extra 50mm of milling depth. It's absolutely bomb proof and the finish is great although not quite the super smooth finish you get with the lo Pro set up it is more than good enough. The reliability and rigidity more than make up for any differences in curf and finish. It 8s quick as fook as well. No regrets at all and despite being heavily criticised on here I stand by my opinions. Gis a ring if you want to chat about it. 07765790561.
  11. That's awsome, I am sure it can work and clearly does in some instances but in what seems to be the vast number of cases people experience some issues with durability and strength. There are as has been said many variables bit I am glad it works for you. I was milling along side a guy using his 36 inch cannon bar the other day and it just wasn't up to the job, which was in fairness very tough oak with heaps of tension wood. I think my rant has serves its purpose and it 8s good to hear that not everyone suffers the issues that seem so common with the lo Pro set up. Happy milling. Dude
  12. Would love to believe you but. I just don't.
  13. Yeah I did just that, went to an awsome guy in Tavistock who completely agreed that lo Pro had no business being used on big saws or bars. I am now getting through two cube of oak a day with no issues at all. Damn my lack of experience.
  14. Definately doesn't want me as a customer which is fine by me. Not the best example of customer service but there you go. There are clearly enough people out there that he doesn't need to hear any opinion other than his own. It is what it is.
  15. Yup couldn't agree more. It's all good.
  16. Nope wasn't being an arse just asking for advice, which is kind of acceptable given the money I spent and that he is 'the most experienced Miller ever'. What I base my opinion on is firstly my experience which dispite what you all seem to assume is both considerable and relevant and more importantly the vast majority of comments on this post and through other conversations of which there have been many. I am not knocking Rob. But by your own admittance lo Pro it is very delicate which alone makes it un fit for purpose, as you also said milling is hard on gear. The t I have yet to be convinced by anything I have read on herewo just dont go together. in fact there is one thing I am convinced of and that forums such as this although often informative are dominated by people who intend only to be critical and who are incapable of accepting input from anyone as obviously they know best. I wish any one using the lo Pro gear including Rob all the best and hope they are successful. I am sure if they are not it will be down to user error again, and again and again. Bleat bleat bleat. And fare well.
  17. What would that be then. Really I want to know.
  18. Like wise I am utterly convinced that lo Pro is limited to 32 inch bars and lower powered saws. Tried to talk to Rob at chainsawbarsuk about it. And he blocked my number and deleted my account. Says it all really.
  19. Nice to hear that someone is having success with the lo Pro set up on a big bar. It seems to me that not many people are. I went for the 48 inch lo Pro with the 881 and it was a disaster. Since switching to a hard nose bar and 404 chain it's been awsome. I seriously think chain saw bars are miss selling the lo Pro stuff for bigger bars and chains, but you live and learn. I'm just happy to be milling with reliable set up again.
  20. Ask me if their any good, I've used am and well, there we go.
  21. Yeah there is lots going on. Wedging is essential whatever set up you are running. I have removed one variable from my set up and that is the 3/8 lo Pro stuff. Now running 404 on a 48 inch duramatic bar and have been milling like mad for the last few days. No issues at all and a pretty good finish with oregon ripping chain. I still firmly beleive that the lo Pro just doesn't have the stamina for big bars and saws. Happy for folk to disagree but do far nothing I have heard in here had convinced me otherwise.
  22. Small diameter also means higher sprocket spead, therefore more heat and less metal to dissipate it. I am convinced that it just isn't suitable for a 129 odd cc saw.
  23. Dude that is awsome, really would like to hear how you get on. I opted for a 404 duramatic bar in the end ands it's ace. It did cost me a good few days productivity though. Be sure to let me know how you get on, one thing I was starting to do with the lo Pro was stop and clean out the bar every so often not sure if it will help certainly didn't stop mine from breaking. Be warned that although Rob refunded me he has also band me from using his shop and blocked my number, hence the stihl bar. Good luck and thanks for not telling me I did it all wrong.
