question: how much use do people feel a rescue climber really is in the event of any major incident in the tree? major cut to neck/ face/ underarm, youve got about 2 minutes, can your climber get to you that fast? anything smaller you can maybe bring yourself down or slice your main line free and be lowered off like a log? any thoughts? -

too much range for them to make it profitable if theyre small best sticking to the smaller accessory stuff like fliplines, carabiners, maybe a rope or two, selection of slings, chainsaw straps, a few of the more popular silky blades? could take a chance on whatever happens to be the fashionable harness or two. -

chainsaw boots to climb. always have done so dont know any different. one pair of boots for the day, as long as theyre comfortable i dont see theres gonna be a problem. there are some designed with climbers in mind.

i have the best waterproof so far. its comfortable, warm, easy to move around in, 100% waterproof even in a serious downpour, windproof. its my house. whenever its pissing down i stay home with a brew.

i cant see clearly where the fences are or the general layout so im basing my opinions on it having a good clear fell if that tree hadnt caught it on that basis id be up the second tree dropping the tips off the fallen one, until tidied back to contact points, and clear to fall once that contact point is cut. i also dont know your experience level with felling, but im looking at that and seeing the chainsaw getting pinched if youre not careful.

first question, does it actually need to come down? in woodland probably away from public access? second, guessing climbing the one to the right to free it to fall is out then? non climber? or no falling space? your plan looks ballsy, but possible with care

seconded, the basic oregon is pretty crap, visor too thick. you can get drop down goggles but youre on the wrong track, you want a standard visor and standalone safety glasses. not a legal thing, just worth having unless you want your face whipped by branches constantly. protos is expensive but people say its worth it, husqvarna do a selection of cheaper stuff. or the petzl or sovos kits look pretty good. the list on what else you want is almost endless, depending on the work youre doing. personal sorta kit, skipping over climbing gear and basic landscaping stuff, generally you want silky or similar, small axe, (doubles as hammer for wedges) grab some tree marker spray

if someone hasnt said it already, id heavily insist on it being an arb approved contractor doing the work. i see little reason from that 2nd photo why any plant damage couldnt be avoided
